Here at Theo Technologies, we are very into gaming (of course!). So we have compiled a list of our favourite game releases last month (July). I personally prefer simple old Mario games but this is what the "real gamers" think...
Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail
Release date: July 2
Platforms: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S
July starts off strong with the next expansion for Final Fantasy 14, as players can head off to the tropical island of Yok Tural for a brand-new storyline. In our opinion, Dawntrail probably best represents both the incredible successes of the Final Fantasy XIV series and also the problems that come with being the new king of the MMO market. The result is a game experience unlike anything in recent memory for this game, albeit thoroughly enjoyable with some issues to iron out before the next release.
Descendant
Release date: July 2
Platforms: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One
A free-to-play game, The First Descendant isn't wasting any time as it sprints out of the release gates. This stylish loot-driven action game from Nexon should appeal to Destiny and Warframe players. Set on Albion, a planet under threat by a seemingly unstoppable army of invaders, you, a Descendant, use your unique abilities and firepower to drive back the Vulgus before they conquer the continent of Ingris. Did we like the game - yes, but the game takes time, but given the good start, the developers have every chance of taking their place among the giants.
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn
Release date: July 18
Platforms: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One
In a world where the gods are jerks, embrace vengeance, gunpowder, and magic to show the gods who's the boss in this action game. A meticulously crafted game that offers no surprises, but that doesn't mean it's boring. The world is beautiful, the combat is adequately adrenaline-pumping, and the story is interesting. Our only critique is that movements and jumping are a bit floaty but easy to get used to.
Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition
Release date: July 18
Platforms: Switch (Nintendo Windows Emulator... hush hush)
A compilation of NES-themed minigames focused on speed, Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is a blast from the competitive past. There are over 150 minigames spanning 13 different NES titles, including Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and more. It is definitely an exhilarating and fun new way to play a handful of classic games, but it does fall far behind the brilliance of Nintendo’s previous NES compilations.
Each of these games has piqued our interest this month for one reason or another, thanks to their gameplay, captivating stories, or general nostalgia! Fancy trying gaming on a Cloud PC? All of these have been played by us on our LoLa System!
See you in a month's time for our top games of August!
